A RIGHTEOUS MAN BY LAURA MARIA CENSABELLA
“There are groups now. ...Zionist groups who watch students. Take down names. On a list. Jewish watchdogs. If you go to any demonstrations criticizing any policies of Israel.”
Two friends since boyhood, now roommates at a Catholic college. One Jewish, one Arab-American Muslim. The best of friends. Until one fateful day when one decides to protest, and the other doesn’t. Father Gaines comes to investigate the violent act.
Laura Maria Censabella’s play Carla Cooks The War won the $10,000 William Saroyan Human Rights Playwriting Prize. Her play Paradise (Alfred P. Sloan Commission) will be produced at Underground Railway/Central Square Theater in Boston in 2017. She directs the Ensemble Studio Theatre Playwrights Unit and is a graduate of Yale.
